Another mission accomplished, plus we win at being a couple
So, since Kurt has this week off of work, we have a little more time to get things done right now, and are trying our best to take advantage of it. Today, we had our second (and final) pre-marital counseling session. Before that, however, we went tux shopping. It didn't take that long, and we're all done with it until April 20th, when the final fitting is. Now that we have the groom's outfit, we still need to figure out what the groomsmen shall be wearing. Any thoughts men (and woman)? As mentioned before, we went to pre-marital counseling as well. After discussing many issues with her, and how we both felt on them, she basically told us that we were soulmates, and had an excellent relationship. So, yay! We win! Yes, it's basically what we already knew, but it's always good to hear that from an outside observer who specializes in that sort of thing. And the whole thing was free, due to Kurt's parents. We looked at a timeline of when things should get done, and we're fairly on schedule, although it says our honeymoon should have already been prepared. But, everything else we're either on target, or a little ahead, so all in all, we're very happy with things right now. Current Mood: accomplished | | Wednesday, December 14th, 2005 | | 10:01 pm |
Some stuff done, but more still to go...
My how the time does fly. (Read: Holy crap, we're running out of time!!!!!) But stuff has been accomplished, and we feel the need to post. All of the gorgeous goddesses on Myra's side have been for their fitting, chosen their dresses, and the orders are in. So all we have to do is wait for those to come in. Vanessa, the wonderfully sweet girl at David's Bridal, had lots of fun with everyone. A cute side note: they were just given a color, and the option to get whatever they liked in that color, and they all ended up with the same dress anyway. Same shoes, too. =) So on behalf of the bride and bridesmaids, TAG! You're it, boys! The catering question has been answered. Myra's mom is going to do it. Woo hoo! She's all excited, too, which shouldn't be hard to picture for any of you who've met/been fed by her. Now we just need to figure out what it is that she'll be cooking. Any requests? The whole thing will be buffet style, including dessert. We're not going with cake alone. Still need to get the second half of the cake topper, but that won't be hard, it just hasn't been done yet in the hopes that we could find one on eBay or something. But no such luck. Oh well. We've also got the basics handled for the reception, music-wise. bigevil will be doing the music for both our wedding and for camobridezilla, and in exchange, the two couples will be purchasing the basics of his equipment for doing so. Works out well for all three parties. Besides cake topper and the clothing for Kurt's side, we're still working on...
- Ideas on how to display the Harry Potter theme at the reception.
- Making our DVD plans concrete.
- Photographers.
- Videographers.
- Finishing the invitations.
- Wedding rings.
- Finding time to go register!

180 days to go!
Well, since we last updated, we've gotten one thing done. We're so proud! We've got all of our attendants set. On Kurt's side, it's foxglove_10, tommyomega, and James. And on Myra's side, it's fuzzygondol, rustedsigns, and isle_of_woman. (Isn't LiveJournal great?) Okay, so we've gotten a little more done than just that, although not a whole lot. But, now that it's six months away, we're getting ourselves in gear. Now that the attendants have been chosen, it's time to figure out when we can go take each of our groups to get fitted for their wedding attire. Thankfully, everyone we picked is nearby, so hopefully, that will make that easier. In other wedding news, Kurt's parents called recently and said, "Oh, by the way, we wanted to give you money for your wedding...or whatever." Yay for parents with expendable income! That takes some of the "Must do this on the cheap" pressure off, although we're still not splurging, since we actually used most of that money on paying off our debt from fixing up the house. So, all in all, we're still on schedule with everything. But, now it's really time to get things moving. Wish us luck! | | Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 | | 12:39 pm |
It's been a while since we've updated...
Wedding plans are still rolling along! We've figured out the contingency plan in case of rain. And a welcome surprise: if it does rain, we get a refund on the outdoor venue, and because we are already paying to have our reception in the same building as the contingency plan, they won't charge us! So if it rains, we don't get our first pick, but the ceremony is free! (And the contingency plan is a nice one, too.) Another bonus, it's all at the same address, so very little advance warning will be required. A couple weeks ago, Kurt's parents were here for a visit and we took them to see the locations we'd chosen. They both really liked our ideas, and afterward we went to dinner at the same place we went just after getting engaged. (They'd never been to BJ's before, and we couldn't let them go on that way.) Also, Myra's dress has been chosen, and it doesn't look anything like the two that we were having such a hard time choosing between originally. We ordered it last week, and even though they said it would take a couple of months to come in, it only ended up taking about a week. So that's another thing to check off of the list. We were bummed that we had to order it through Alfred Angelo, though, because the girl that helped us at David's Bridal was so sweet that we wanted her to get the commission. We did promise her that once we figure out the bridesmaid situation, we'll come to her for help. Already purchased the invitation cards, now it's just a matter of figuring out what we want them to say. But at least now we know the format and whatnot. Still looking for... Our first post
Alright, planning is underway! So far, we’ve booked the spaces for both the ceremony and the reception. Fortunately, Myra’s dad decided to give us an early wedding gift ($5,000!!!!), so we can go ahead and get everything paid up right away. We were fortunate to get the date that we wanted, apparently it’s a popular one. So far we know these things…
- Date: April 22nd 2006
- Colors: Various shades of purple.
- Formality: Fairly low, more of an earthy/natural feeling. High heels would be a bad idea for this location, trust us.
- Reception Theme: Harry Potter. (Kurt’s idea, believe it or not.)
- Best (wo)man: Gail Burt, Kurt’s boss at Metropolis comics, and a really good friend to both of us.
Here’s what we’re working on at the moment…
- A gown, and items to match it: sandals, accessories and the like.
- Rings that we really like, not too flashy and bulky.
- The rest of the attendants.
It seems like we're pretty much on schedule with everything at the moment. Here's hoping it stays that way. Current Mood: happy |
